If you’ve ever wanted to get up close and personal with one of Midsomer Murders iconic locations, then coming up in September is your big chance. Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s classic cultural and architectural buildings by offering visitors access to places usually closed to the public.
For four days in September, the Southern Oxfordshire public can get to visit some of the regions most beautiful and historic buildings. This once a year opportunity this time features Grey’s Court, one of the locations from the series.
Grey’s Court, which is located near the town of Henley, has featured in not one but two episodes of the show. In Orchis Fatalis Barnaby and Scott go to visit Brother Robert at the monastery and the main house was also used for external shots of the Priory in A Sacred Trust.
So, this year on 13 and 14 September, why not get on down to Grey’s Court and have a look around? It's not usually open to the public so make the most of your opportunity.
As well as Grey’s Court, this is also your chance to access parts of Abingdon that are usually restricted, and there’s even a family day in the Market Place. Again, the fun takes place on 13 and 14 September. Also on 14 September, the Vale & Downland Museum will be putting on special activities for families, including a gallery trail and family craft activities.
A little earlier in the month, the Didcot Railway Centre is hosting its Diesel Heritage Days, on 6 to 7 September. A Great Western diesel railcar has been lovingly restored and will be open to explore inside and out. There are also other attraction to check out. Prices do apply for this attraction, however.
